Women's Light (60kg) Final Bout

Katie Taylor of Ireland defeated Sofya Ochigava of Russia to win the gold medal in the women's light (60kg) boxing final. This victory marked a historic moment, as Taylor became the first female boxer to win an Olympic gold medal.

Boxing's Olympic Debut

Boxing made its Olympic debut at the 1904 Games. As an amateur, Taylor achieved unprecedented success, becoming the first female boxer to win Olympic gold in London 2012 and the first to win two Olympic medals overall.
